Tuition Benefits You are eligible to receive tuition benefits for yourself, your spouse, and your dependent children beginning the first semester after successful completion of the introductory employment period. You must complete the waiting period before the first day of the academic semester to be eligible for benefits for that semester. Research professionals and the executive group are eligible to receive tuition benefits for the first semester that follows or coincides with the date of appointment.
Retirement Employees have the option to contribute to their own retirement as soon as they begin working at GW. Retirement plans are available with TIAA-CREF, Vanguard Group, and Fidelity Investments. After you have completed 2 years of full-time service, you are eligible to enroll in the base retirement plan. The University will then contribute an amount equal to 4 percent of your base salary to your plan. Additionally, for each 1 percent of salary you contribute to yourl retirement plan, the University contributes an additional amount equal to 1.5 times your contribution, up to a maximum University contribution that equals 6 percent of your salary.
Transportation Employees are eligible for discounted parking rates on GW campus and pre-tax metro and off-campus parking benefits.
GW Home Program The GW Home Program provides eligible faculty and staff of The George Washington University the opportunity to apply for down payment and closing cost assistance towards the purchase of a primary residence in the District of Columbia. The Program also offers home buyer education programs for employees and a Resource Center within the Department of Human Resource Services.
Faculty/Employee Assistance Program The Faculty/Employee Assistance Program (F/EAP) is a service for University employees offering confidential counseling, problem assessment, and referrals to other resources in the community. This program is available to all employees, and can help with a range of concerns.
Bright Horizons Bright Horizons Children's Center provides daycare services for children from the age of six weeks through six years of age. The center provides quality day care and excellent teacher-to-child ratios. It is conveniently located at 2033 K Street, adjacent to the Foggy Bottom campus. The center also provides periodic seminars on a variety of relevant child care issues. Contact the center's director at (202) 887-5944 for registration information and materials for full-time and backup care and for information on space availability for your child. Costs for child care vary, depending on the hours of service needed.
Other Additional benefits include banking resources, child care/elder care assistance, and a savings bond purchase program.
