Community Building


Colonial Community aims to build university-wide cohesion through socializing activities, spirit and affiliation building activities, and opportunities for individuals throughout the university to interact and learn from each other in many different situations and team building projects.

 

Affiliation Groups:


The Community and Culture Subcommittee strives to build community among GW employees.

 

Efforts include membership in various campus associations such as the Potomac Society, designed to link Alumni Employees together.

 

Several other departments have support groups, particularly centered around multicultural topics, to encourage employees to assist students make the most of their GW experience, through various mentoring programs.

 

Community Building Subcommittee:


The Community Building Subcommittee is responsible for events that would increase interaction among GW Staff and build a sense of community and camaraderie, while promoting affiliation with the entire GW Community.


Three Main Focus Areas:

  • Quarterly Coffee & Conversation events
  • Large, university-wide socializing events
  • Community service opportunities
